Dear Madeleine!
Thanks very much for your letter. The wedding went off all right. It was a very busy time for us. We have 42 guests there. Of course Marieliesel was here too, she was one of the 8 bridesmaids. She enjoyed riding our horses very much. Deidi is still here with her husband and child. The little boy is perfectly sweet, he is very intelligent for his two months. Baby is very happy, she must be somewhere in Italy or Jugoslavia now. She is going over all the European lakes. The Balaton here, the West- Italian lakes, some of the Swiss and she is going to live near the Lake of Constance, quite near Lindau. I saw their house when I was there this spring. Muck has arrived here safely, didn’t she write to you or your mother? But her trunk has not yet arrived. Now we have heard that it is somewhere in Budapest. Maybe it’ll come in a fortnight or so!!
Mucks Scottish friend Mharie Irvine is here with us. Next week the other girl Eileen Shepherd will come here too. It ought to improve my English after all.
We are going to picnic today on the Balaton, Hungary’s biggest lake. It is about 50 miles from here. I am very glad the wedding is over, I was so tied I could hardly walk after it. Now I am recovering. It was so hot too, that we went bathing with all our guests as often as we could. I cant make up my mind to finish this letter properly.
Bye Bye
Loll
