Dear Madeleine!
Many thanks for you letter. It is raining hard this morning. I went for a ride, but had to return soon. Me and my horse were very wet. I begin recovering from the wedding. I was tied. This week Deidi and her family have left us. I am sorry. Her baby boy is such a darling. I am looking forward to seeing them again in November, when they are coming to the shootings. Her husband is very keen on it. He has just bought new guns. Baby must be in Luzern (Swiss) by now. She has gone from Budapest to Yugoslavia, where she met a friend who is married there. Then she went along the coast to Venice. She spent her time on the Lido, bathing and sight-seeing. She was delighted. Then she went to Aquileia and the Lake Garda. She stayed in Malcesine some days. Now she went to Switzerland and stayed there till mid-September. She will go to Achberg near Lindau. Her house will be quite small, near an old castle.
I went to a very nice dance last Saturday. There were about 60 people with the Counts Erdody. The gypsies played until 5 or 6 next morning. It was great fun. I hope you had nice holidays and the weather was fine. It is a depressing sight being near a lake when it rains.
Did you go to the theatre in London? What did you see? It must be great fun to go shopping in London. I always enjoy shopping. We have got Aileen Shepherd here. She is 17. She is the girl with whom Muck stayed near Birmingham. She has to go to a Polish convent next week. She is very nice. I am looking forward to see “Mr Deeds Goes To Town”. Gary Cooper is my favourite and I am sure he is very good in this comedy too. Did you see it? Going to the pictures is the only fun you have when it is raining.
If you would like a foto of Babys wedding, write to me, please. I have none here to send you now, as all we can spare are sent away. Mami will order more and then you’ll get one.
I think I have done enough writing for to-day.
Much love Loll
