Richard Borek
Richard Borek, then 19, was overjoyed at the first sale of his life. He was actually supposed to take over the hat and fur business that his parents ran in Braunschweig. But in 1893 something happened that would change his life forever. On the occasion of the World's Fair in Chicago, a beautifully designed series of stamps was released that aroused Richard Borek's interest.
He had been fascinated by stamps since he was a child, and his passion was now revived. While browsing in his parents' shop, he discovered many old stamps from Braunschweig and thought that there must be other people besides him who would like to own such pieces.
He hung his first sheet of stamps on the shop door and soon the first customer came. With his unusual business idea, Richard Borek laid the foundation for a success story that continues to this day. The world's largest specialist mail order company for philately was born from the little boy's leisure activity.
For over 130 years, the Braunschweig-based company named after its founder has been characterized by inventiveness and enthusiasm, daring and perseverance, a sense of tradition and a sense of family. The name Richard Borek has now become a "brand" in itself. This is not a soulless corporation, but people who were born with a passion for the stamp trade.
In 1893, it was just one interested party from Braunschweig, but today it is stamp enthusiasts from all over the world who trust the experts from the city of Henry the Lion. The reliable quality of the stamps and all the collector's accessories contributes significantly to this.
In addition, Richard Borek I attached great importance to always being in contact with his customers. He diligently created price lists and information that were sent out regularly. This resulted in the now popular Borek reports, which will be published for the 93rd time in 2020. Then as now, collectors can find their most beautiful pieces in them. Whether sought-after new items or sought-after rarities - Richard Borek offers a wide selection of national and international stamps and guarantees their authenticity without time restrictions.
The company's proven collector service also includes extensive equipment of the highest quality, which is specially tailored to each collecting area. It not only serves to protect the objects, but also provides a wealth of background information.
