Sign of the Times

Letter sent from the Motor Fuels Department (General Supplies) of the Gironde Préfecture to Ismaël Sanz in Bordeaux, requisitioning his car. The letterhead is printed with a mimeographed (?) message and typewritten postal address and title. The mimeographed message suggests that numerous letters where dispatched on this day. Ref: 18.02.1941

Loose translation of the letter to Ismaël Sanz, 18th February 1941
'I have the honour of informing you that your vehicle has been retained by the Occupying Authorities to be made available to them.
You will be informed at a later date when and where you should drive your car.'
