Pen and ink drawing of a ghostly soldier pointing to a businessman/politician who in turn has his arms outstretched in a pleading manner. The caption reading, 'Wer bist Dir?', meaning 'Who are you', and most likely referring to the 'Stab-in-the-back' myth (Dolchstoßlegende). This nazi propaganda campaign proliferated the myth that the German soldier had been betrayed at the end of WW1.
This card itself is postally unused though may date from 1933 when Hitler came to power.
Provenance: Purportedly removed from Wilhelm Brückner's office in Hitler's Chancellery in July 1945, subsequently being sold by Charles Hamilton Auctions, New York, in June 1983. Neatly torn at an angle from the centre. Ref: 3/61
