POW letter-sheet sent from an Italian soldier detained at 'Camp Americano 127' situated in Chanzy (Side-Bel-Abbès) in Algeria. Research reveals that from this camp prisoners would be transported to America for detention. However, following the Italian surrender, inmates would be offered the opportunity to fight with the Allies against the German forces. It is also noted that after the war German POW's were recruited to the French Foreign Legion. Other Camps - CAMP 126 Saint Cloud, CAMP 101 at Casablanca. Ref: 25.08.1943 - 13/103
